Learn why printable stickers peel and how to fix them without damaging your planner. Simple steps for Moonlit Garden and Radiant Raccoon stickers.
Quick answer
Most peeling happens because the sticker paper's adhesive isn't bonding well with the page surface. The fix depends on the cause: clean the page, press firmly, or use a thin layer of glue stick for a permanent hold.
Why printable stickers peel more than store-bought ones
Printable stickers use a different adhesive than commercial stickers. The adhesive is designed to be repositionable so you can move them before they set, but that also means they can lift at the edges over time. This is especially common on coated or glossy planner pages where the adhesive has less texture to grip.
If you're using our Moonlit Garden or Radiant Raccoon printable stickers on standard 160gsm dot grid pages, you might notice peeling after a few days. That's normal and fixable.
Diagnose and fix peeling stickers
- Symptom: edges lifting within hours: The sticker wasn't pressed firmly enough. After placing the sticker, run your fingernail or a bone folder over the entire surface, especially the edges. Heat from your finger can help activate the adhesive. If edges still lift after pressing, move to the next step.
- Symptom: sticker slides around or doesn't stick at all: The page surface may have oils, lotion, or dust. Wipe the area with a dry microfiber cloth or a clean eraser. Let it dry completely before reapplying the sticker. If the sticker still won't stick, the adhesive may be too weak for that page.
- Symptom: sticker peels after a day or two: The adhesive needs more grip. Apply a thin, even layer of acid-free glue stick to the back of the sticker, then press it down firmly. This creates a permanent bond without damaging the page. If you want to reposition later, skip the glue and use a removable adhesive dot instead.
- Symptom: sticker won't stay even with glue: The sticker paper itself may be too smooth or the page coating too slick. Consider printing on a different sticker paper with a matte finish, or place the sticker on a different page type. Stop here: not all sticker papers work on all planner pages. Try a sample on a less important page first.
